Alzheimer’s screening that takes 5 minutes?

Neurotrack Technologies has announced the unveiling of an app that can conduct cognitive decline screenings in as little as five minutes.

Here’s how it works: A browser-based app screens users for signs of cognitive decline based on eye movements as they observe several images. This approach offers a quicker alternative to tests that can take a half hour to complete in a physician’s office, according to the firm.

Advances related to eye-tracking technology, data analytics, machine learning and computer vision have helped reduce the time required for screening, said Elli Kaplan, the firm’s CEO. The test currently is available for no charge.

“We’d love for this app to have an impact everywhere, especially in places where access to healthcare and specialized care for seniors is harder to get,” Kaplan said.
