Investigators believe resident was killed in assisted living community

The death of an 84-year-old man in a Pennsylvania assisted living community earlier this year is now being ruled a homicide. Daniel Scanlon died April 4 from complications of blunt force trauma to his head, according to the Northampton County coroner.

It’s still not clear how the U.S. Army veteran and former Conrail freight conductor was injured at Arden Courts of Old Orchard, in Easton, PA. The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office currently is investigating the incident. Prosecutors, however, have yet to determine whether charges will be filed, according to a spokesman.

Arden Courts released a statement saying that although it cannot comment on the investigation, the safety and well-being of residents remains a “primary concern.”
