Columbus, OH-based Methodist ElderCare Services has changed its name to The Wesley Communities, effective Friday. The change will be implemented across all properties and services throughout the rest of the year, according to the company.

“We selected ‘The Wesley Communities’ because it clarifies our overall identity as an organization,” CEO Margret Carmany said in a statement. The not-for-profit company includes three Central Ohio retirement communities — Wesley Glen, Wesley Ridge and Wesley Woods (coming soon) — as well as home care and hospice services.

The name change process also led to a revised mission statement that defines why The Wesley Communities exists, aligning with the organization’s heritage and culture: “We are a welcoming community of kindness and grace, where residents and staff thrive.”

The Wesley Communities, incorporated in 1967, is an affiliate of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
