Elmcroft Senior Living has introduced ACCUflo, a medication management system developed by Creative Strategies, into more than half of its senior living communities.

The system helps track the medication administration process, providing professional caregivers easy access to resident medical records, medication and treatments. It also allows barcode scanning of medication packages to help ensure that drugs are administered at the correct time and with the proper dosage. ACCUflo can notify caregivers when medications or treatments are due.

The medication management system is meant to aid pharmacists in addition to caregivers. It is designed to help pharmacies identify discontinued orders, ensure that expired medication is handled properly and account for controlled drugs.

ACCUflo is designed for use in assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing communities as well as by long-term care pharmacies.

Elmcroft operates more than 83 senior living communities, and it also offers four multi-level retirement communities. The company said it plans to introduce ACCUflo into all of its communities in the future.

Earlier this year, Belmont Village Senior Living, which operates more than 25 senior living communities across the United States and Mexico, announced that it had integrated ACCUflo into all of its senior living communities.
