A new website aims to help senior living community owners and operators affordably identify and incorporate more music and entertainment into their activities.

Play it for Seniors, a 501(c)3 organization, was formed earlier this year to simplify the process of finding entertainment. A free service, its sole purpose is to act as an online music and entertainment community in support of senior living communities.

The organization’s website offers nationwide access to more than 90,000 entertainers — soloists, bands, comedians, magicians, DJs and more — as well as more than 16,000 music teachers and more than 1,000 certified music therapists trained in personalized music.

Play it for Seniors has established partnerships with GigSalad, the Music Teachers Network and the American Music Therapy Association. Senior living communities can browse and compare entertainers, read reviews, offer best practices, receive free quotes and book entertainment, music teachers and music therapists, all in one place.

“Residents benefit from more entertainment, while operators get more productivity out of their entertainment budgets,” said Bill Nutting, founder and executive director of Play it for Seniors.

The site also can be used by the families of residents to coordinate with activity directors the sponsorship of in-residence entertainment for birthdays, anniversaries and other observances.
