A Minnesota senior living community is partnering with a health technology platform and a data warehousing and analysis company in an effort to improve residents’ quality of life.

North Ridge in New Hope, MN, managed by Mission Health and offering a continuum of care — adult day care, independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation — will use Reemo smartwatches and communication tools to provide caregivers, residents and their family members with real-time health and wellness information while simultaneously allowing the health system to track biometric and behavioral data remotely.

The senior living community will be the first of its kind to implement Reemo’s enhanced platform through the company’s partnership with Teradata, according to Reemo. The resulting analytics will lead to improved care and help identify potential declines in health, the companies said. The senior living community, for instance, will obtain data on daily activities, which in turn could help predict health risks such as the threat of a fall or a urinary tract infection.

“As we saw how technology is impacting delivery of care in all sectors of healthcare, we were looking for a solution that could expand our abilities and create efficiencies in our community, and Reemo was just that,” said Tina Thomas, senior vice president of operations for Mission Health. “We’re looking forward to seeing how the solution’s helpful insights into patient data will increase our ability to deliver proactive, informed care to our residents. The Reemo team has been extremely helpful in making sure our team is comfortable with the new technology, and we’re thrilled to be rolling it out.”

Other settings providing care and services to older adults also may find the technology helpful, according to Reemo Chief Revenue Officer John Valiton. “The insights generated are also valuable to others working to improve senior care, such as drug manufacturers, medical device manufacturers and health insurers,” he said.
