Enrique De Le Piedra

The owner of a Florida assisted living community was arrested Thursday after an employee said the man sexually assaulted her at work.

Enrique De La Piedra, 73, owner of Osprey Health Care Center in St. Petersburg, FL, has been charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment for the alleged May 22 attack on his 44-year-old employee.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the victim said that she went to De La Piedra’s office at his request, then he locked the door, hugged her and sexually assaulted her. The victim told detectives that she escaped and immediately reported the incident to other employees; deputies were notified later.

De La Piedra came to the sheriff’s office and “admitted to locking the door in the office and having sexual contact with the victim,” authorities said. “He told detectives the sexual contact was consensual.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate.
