Virgil Ellison

A visitor to an assisted living community in Missouri was arrested Thursday for allegedly raping a resident there in January, reported the Springfield News-Leader.

The resident reportedly told police about two incidents involving Virgil Ellison that occurred at Marshfield Place, including a Jan. 4 rape. Ellison, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s sex offender registry, was convicted in 2003 of the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl the year before, when he was 34.

The resident has schizophrenia with multiple personalities, staff told police, according to the newspaper, but police said Ellison said he had sex with the woman without asking her permission.

The owner of 40-bed Marshfield Place declined to comment to the media.
