Louisville, KY-based Atria Senior Living is planning to open the employee cafeteria at its downtown headquarters to the general public, according to Insider Louisville.

The company plans to use Haymarket Bistro to test recipes; train employees who work in its independent living, assisted living and memory care communities; and gauge the culinary likes and dislikes of potential future residents. The cafe also caters internal and external events.

Atria expects to have the effort underway in March, the company told the media outlet. First, the restaurant is being moved from the eighth floor to the first floor of the building.

The privately held management company operates more than 180 senior living communities in 28 states and seven Canadian provinces, according to its website. More than 13,500 employees serve more than 21,000 residents at those locations.
