BMO Harris Bank has formed a new commercial real estate healthcare practice that will focus on financing the development, acquisition and refinancing of senior living facilities, skilled nursing facilities and medical office buildings across the United States.

Based in Chicago and Washington, D.C., the healthcare CRE group provides construction financing, revolving and term facilities on a single-asset or portfolio basis. Imran Javaid will lead the new team, which builds off of BMO’s existing expertise in senior living facilities in BMO Capital Markets, led by Jonathan Li.

“There is a growing need for facilities to support our aging population, and we are very excited to be able to offer debt capital to this important and growing sector of the U.S. economy,” said John Petrovski, managing director and head of U.S. commercial real estate for BMO Harris Bank. “By bringing Imran Javaid on board, we are adding a leader with exceptional industry expertise, one who shares our passion for providing a great customer experience.”

Javaid brings more than 20 years of investment, finance and management experience to his new role, and he has been actively focused on the seniors housing and care industry for the past 15 years. In his most recent role, he built and led Capital One’s Healthcare Real Estate Group.

He has an undergraduate degree in accounting from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Additionally, he is a non-practicing certified public accountant and a chartered financial analyst charterholder.
