Upward trend continues for assisted living communities earning AHCA/NCAL Silver Quality Awards

Forty-seven assisted living communities have earned the 2018 Silver - Achievement in Quality Award from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living, AHCA/NCAL announced Thursday.

The total is an increase of 20 over 2017, when the 27 Silver Awards earned by assisted living communities was triple the number won in 2016.

One hundred nineteen skilled nursing facilities earned the Silver Award this year, AHCA/NCAL said. Altogether, winning communities and facilities come from 36 states.

AHCA/NCAL has posted the names of the winners on its website.

The Silver Award is the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program, which recognizes providers that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality of care in assisted living and long-term and post-acute care. The awards program is based on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.

Bronze-level winners previously were announced, and Gold-level winners will be announced later this summer. Recipient organizations will be honored during AHCA/NCAL's 69th Annual Convention and Exposition Oct. 7 to 10 in San Diego.
