A former assisted living nurse has been sentenced to five years of probation for obtaining hydrocodone by fraud.

Betty Jo Tudor was sentenced Oct. 30 in federal court in Charleston, WV. She previously had pleaded guilty to stealing residents’ opioids for her own personal use while working at Sweetbriar Assisted Living in Dunbar, WV. Tudor said she falsified records to cover up the theft, which occurred in June 2013.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services investigated the case, which was prosecuted as part of an ongoing effort led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin.
