I’m attending the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care Fall Conference this week — my fourth conference in eight weeks after being off the road for more than a year and a half.

I’d become so used to attending meetings via Zoom in the comfort of my home office that I had forgotten how energizing and just plain enjoyable it is to see colleagues and others in person. How refreshing it has been to meet up with readers at the Argentum, American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living and LeadingAge annual meetings this year after 2020’s virtual conferences. It’s been personally and professionally gratifying to hear how much you love our rebranding and how much you rely on McKnight’s Senior Living for news and insights to help you in your work.

The long-term care industry is recovering from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, but we’re not out of the woods yet. So I appreciate all of the steps the associations have been taking to try to ensure the safety of meeting attendees. We’ve uploaded our vaccination cards, taken daily health screenings, and worn face coverings while networking and learning together, to try to protect one another and the loved ones waiting for us at home.

There is no exhibit hall at the NIC conference and, therefore, no McKnight’s booth. But I’m looking forward to putting on my black mask and seeing fellow attendees during sessions and at social functions. And when the meeting is over, we can look forward to the 2022 meetings when, I hope, the recovery is even further along.

Outside of the conferences, of course, you can keep up with the latest in the industry via the McKnight’s e-newsletters and social media. If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up for our newsletters at mcknightsseniorliving.com and follow or friend McKnight’s Senior Living on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. You can follow me on Twitter @Lois_Bowers.

I look forward to keeping in touch in person or electronically!
