Has your community used technology to improve care or operations in the past year? If yes, the 2019 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards program is here to give your organization the opportunity to obtain the recognition it deserves.

The program is offered by McKnight’s Senior Living, which focuses on independent living, assisted living and memory care, and our sister media brand, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, which covers skilled nursing.

As it did last year, the competition features two tracks — one for senior living, and one for skilled nursing. The senior living track has six categories:

  1. Quality. Winning entries will describe the technology involved and how it was applied, describe and document how care-quality improved, and address the overall effect of the change.
  2. High-Tech/High-Touch. Winning entries will describe the technology involved and how it was applied, describe and document how this change improved interaction between residents and staff, address the overall effect of the change.
  3. Innovator of the Year.  Winning entries will describe how innovation was key, and how it made a difference in caregiving and/or the bottom line.
  4. Keep It Super Simple. Winning entries will describe a simple but effective technology-related application that improved care and/or operations
  5. Safety. Winning entries will describe the technology involved and how it was applied, describe and document how this change improved safety for residents and/or staff, and address the overall effect of the change.
  6. Activities. Winning entries will describe the technology involved and how it was applied, describe and document how this change improved activities, and address the overall effect of the change.

The clock is ticking — nominations will be accepted through July 24. Please note that entries must be submitted by long-term care organizations, not vendors. Multiple nominations from the same organization are permitted.

Entries will be judged by an external panel of experts. Winners will be announced in the fall and recognized online and in print.

Stanley Healthcare is the Platinum sponsor of the program this year. MatrixCare is the Gold sponsor of the senior living track.
