Jacksonville, FL-based Aventine Hill Communities is entering a time of corporate expansion with plans to name each new senior living community after “influential loved ones of core staff members,” the company announced Wednesday.

One community receiving the treatment is The Heritage at Westover Hill, a San Antonio assisted living and memory care community over which Aventine Hill Communities recently assumed ownership. The community is being renamed The June after the grandmother of long-time employee Teri Showalter, RN, the company’s chief of compliance and clinical operations.

“When we decided on this concept, Teri was the first one began telling us about her grandmother, June,” Aventine Hill Communities CEO Beverly Janco said in a statement. “We immediately knew she was the perfect person for The June.”

Showalter said her grandmother, June Eileen Smith, had a “zest for life” and enjoyed swimming, travel and oil painting.

Aventine Hill Communities will add art pieces by the eponymous relative throughout the senior living community and will incorporate her recipes into scheduled menus, Janco said. “It is a meaningful way to infuse our community with the spirit of a woman who really made a lasting impact on everyone who interacted with her,” she said.
