Aegis Living recently broke ground on Aegis Gardens, the Pacific Northwest’s first senior living community for Chinese-Americans and Chinese Cultural Center.

Located on about 7.5 acres in Washington, Aegis Gardens will have 110 homes and is expecting to open in 2017. Care will be provided 24 hours a day, with staff fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The caretakers are specially training for providing for dementia residents.

An activity center will host activities, cultural exhibitions and provide daycare services. The community will host events of celebration for Chinese holidays, including authentic good, mahjong, calligraphy, cribbage, Tai Chi classes, a central Zen garden and a tearoom.
