St. Paul’s Senior Services names Sophia Lukas new COO
Sophia Lukas has been named vice president and chief operating officer at St. Paul’s Senior Services, San Diego.
Growing up, Lukas spent many hours volunteering for SPSS, where her mother worked for many years as the controller of the SPSS finance department. Lukas completed her administrator-in-training program there and later served as the administrator of St. Paul’s Plaza.
Most recently before coming back to St. Paul’s, Lukas was with WellQuest Living, a start-up senior living company with communities in California. In her role as vice president of operations, she managed large teams at established and newly constructed senior living communities.
Lukas has experience working at for-profit and not-for-profit senior housing organizations, including a long tenure with HumanGood, where she held positions as an administrator, executive director and vice president of operations, overseeing life plan communities and implementing a procurement department for the corporate office.
Lukas has current licenses as an administrator for residential care facilities for elderly and a nursing home administrator. She has an undergraduate degree in biology and Spanish from the University of San Diego and a master’ degree in long-term care administration from the University of Southern California, Davis, School of Gerontology.

Ohio Living appoints David DeSimone as chief counsel and compliance officer
David DeSimone has been named chief counsel and compliance officer for Ohio Living, Columbus.
DeSimone is an attorney with 25 years of experience in the field, most recently serving as senior vice president for CentraCare Healthcare System in Freehold, NJ, where he was responsible for directing legal, risk, insurance, strategy and growth initiatives. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
DeSimone holds a law degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law, a master’s degree in healthcare leadership and an undergraduate degree in organizational behavior and management from Brown University.
Oaks Senior Living hires Kim Bennet as regional director of operations
Kim Bennet has been hired as the regional director of operations at Oaks Senior Living, Alpharetta, GA.
Bennet started her career in senior living as a health and wellness director at Senior Lifestyle. From there, she has served in various roles, from clinical/operations specialist to her most recent position as senior vice president of wellness at Aviva Senior Living.

Enso Village names Nestor Mendez VP of operations and resident experience
Nestor Eligio Mendez has been named vice president of operations and resident experience at Enso Village, a Kendal-affiliated, Zen-inspired life plan community in Healdsburg, CA.
Mendez has more than 30 years of experience in the field of senior living and aging services. He earned his associate degree in healthcare administration at the University of Phoenix and earned administrator certifications for residential care facilities for the elderly in Arizona, California and Washington.

Admiral at the Lake names Dyon Bryant HR director
Dyon Bryant has been named director of human resources at The Admiral at the Lake, a Kendal-affiliated life plan community in Chicago.
Bryant earned her undergraduate degree from Marquette University, where she majored in psychology and English. She is a SHRM–certified professional and recently participated in Hacking HR, a global learning community of HR and business leaders.

Anthem appoints Amanda Hammock community relations director
Amanda Hammock has been named community relations director for Liberty Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in West Chester, OH. In this position, she will be responsible for community outreach and marketing.
Hammock brings more than 10 years of experience in memory care to the role. Her experience includes work as a marketing director for Reunion Court of The Woodlands in Woodlands, TX. She earned her undergraduate degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Indiana University East in Richmond, IN.

Bridges by Epoch at Norwalk names Jennifer Matté Miller senior adviser
Jennifer Matté Miller has been named senior adviser for Bridges by Epoch at Norwalk, Norwalk, CT.
Miller has more than 25 years of sales and leadership experience. She began her career as an account executive and expanded her career into managerial positions. In addition to her sales experience, she has a diverse background in the hospitality industry, working at hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton.
Miller earned her undergraduate degree in history from Kenyon College, Gambier, OH, and her graduate degree in business from Cornell Online University.
Ziegler names Humair Sabir managing director of senior housing and care finance practice
Humair Sabir has been named a managing director of specialty investment bank Ziegler’s senior housing and care finance practice.
Before joining Ziegler in 2023, Humair was a managing director at Blueprint Healthcare Real Estate Advisors, where he was a member of the sales team and responsible for originating and executing seniors living and skilled nursing transactions. Humair also worked for Granite Investment Group, a private equity firm in Orange County, CA, and spent several years at Chicago-based real estate investment trust Ventas in a variety of different roles, including acquisitions and asset management.
Humair earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is also a Level III candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst program.

LW Consulting names Brett Schreyer manager of workforce solutions
Brett Schreyer has been named the manager of workforce solutions at LW Consulting.
Schreyer has more than 25 years of experience in the human resources field holding a variety of positions, including 12 years in senior living environments as a human resources director. Schreyer’s experience includes work in assisted living, personal care, skilled nursing and in-patient, short-term rehabilitation environments. Additionally, he is a certified personal care home administrator.
Schreyer holds a master’s degree in human resources management from Saint Francis University and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management and the local chapter, Human Resource Professionals of Central Pennsylvania.

Nobi adds Sarah Thomas to board
Sarah Thomas has joined the board of Belgium-based technology company Nobi as it plans further growth in the United States.
Nobi’s flagship device is an artificial intelligence-powered smart lamp meant to help prevent and detect falls while meeting design standards and privacy requirements.
Thomas brings more than 20 years of experience to her board role. She is CEO of consulting firm Delight by Design, which creates age-inclusive products, brands, spaces and experiences; CEO of multinational staff-hosting company MezTal in Guadalajara, Mexico; and a co- founder of the media platform AgeTech News. She is a fellow at the Nexus Insights, a mentor in the Techstars Future of Longevity Accelerator program and a venture partner to private market investment firm Agetech Capital and early-stage venture firm ThirdAct Ventures. Her career also has included service as executive-in-residence at Aging2.0.
Nobi operates in the United States, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Discovery’s Kim Hoffman appointed to Argentum’s 2023 LEAD program cohort
Kimberly Hoffman of Discovery Senior Living will be part of the Argentum Leadership Advancement & Development Program cohort after nominations were chosen by the Program’s Steering Committee.
Hoffman was nominated by Discovery executives to take part in the six-month educational and networking cooperative, which is presented by Argentum.
In being accepted into this year’s Argentum LEAD Program, she will follow in the path of three other Discovery leaders who have participated in the cohort since the program launched in 2020. The 2023 cohort will first assemble in person and kick off program-sponsored activities at the Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference, May 8-10 in New Orleans.
