Journey Senior Living President Blair Minton passes away from COVID-19

Blair Minton, who had been president of Maryville, TN-based Journey Senior Living / JSL Management Solutions since 2015 and was a former board member of Argentum, died Dec. 16 from COVID-19.

“I knew Blair as a kind and thoughtful wonder of a man who was devoted, in part, to caring for older Americans through his work as an owner/operator in the senior living business,” Rick Grimes, former president and CEO of Argentum, then known as the Assisted Living Federation of America, told McKnight’s Senior Living. Minton’s time on ALFA/Argentum’s board, 2009 to 2016, overlapped with Grimes’ time with the organization. He now is executive vice president of ALG Senior.

Minton had been president of Blair Minton and Associates from 1992 to 2013, during which time he provided consulting services for the development of assisted living communities throughout the country. He also founded BMA Management, which owned and managed 30 affordable assisted living communities in Illinois, and was active at the firm from 1984 to 2012. He was a founding board of directors member of the Affordable Assisted Living Coalition in Illinois. Minton’s career also included serving as a vice president of Riverside Medical Center in 1984 and 1985.

Minton, a registered nurse, held an Associate of Arts degree in nursing from Kaskaskia Junior College and a Bachelor of Science degree in physiology from Southern Illinois University.

“Thank you, Blair, for the work you undertook to make a difference in this world. I hope you had comfort in knowing that you did make a difference,” Grimes said.

Goodwin House promotes Andrew Siegel to chief business development officer

Andrew “Andy” Siegel has been promoted from vice president of business development to the new role of chief business development officer at Alexandria, VA-based Goodwin House.

Siegel started at Goodwin House in 2017. In his expanded role, he will take on additional responsibilities related to home- and community-based services while he continues to build key organizational relationships focused on expanding the mission of Goodwin House.

Siegel continues as an adjunct professor at George Washington University in the Health Policy and Management Department of the Milken School of Public Health, and he co-leads the home health and hospice cabinet for LeadingAge Virginia. 

Cloverland Park names executive director, sales and marketing director

Brent Brewer and Laura Ehlert have been named executive director and director of sales and marketing, respectively, at Brentwood, TN-based Cloverland Park, an assisted living and memory care community managed by Integral Senior Living and expected to open in summer 2021.

Brewer comes to Cloverland Park having held multiple executive director roles at senior living communities, the most recent being at Creekside at Three Rivers Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Ehlert, prior to joining Cloverland Park, held director of sales and marketing roles for several senior living communities. She also is a licensed real estate agent.

East Ridge Residence names Linda Shriver-Buckner executive director

Linda Shriver-Buckner is the new executive director of East Ridge Residence, an East Ridge, TN, independent living community managed by Veritas Senior Living. She started in the role Dec. 10.

Shriver-Buckner previously was sales director for East Ridge Residence and now will manage all the day-to-day operations. She formerly worked in community relations at Garden Plaza of Greenbriar Cove.

Shriver-Buckner graduated from Southern Adventist University.

Spring Cypress names director of sales and marketing, Katie Nutt

Katie Nutt has been named director of sales and marketing at Spring Cypress, a Cypress, TX, assisted living and memory care community managed by Integral Senior Living.

Nutt brings five years of healthcare marketing experience to the role.

Her responsibilities include helping residents and their families coordinate all aspects of the move-in process, developing annual marketing plans, and organizing marketing visits to the community for prospective residents.

Alexander IV names director of sales and marketing, Rachel Garner

Rachel Garner has been named director of sales and marketing for Alexander IV, a Macon, GA, assisted living and memory care community managed by Integral Senior Living and set to open in a former elementary school in 2021.

Before joining the Alexander IV team, Garner held multiple positions in the senior living industry, starting as a director and then community relations director for Thrive at Greer. Her most recent position was in inside sales with Thrive Senior Living, where she scheduled more than 900 tours that led to 100 move-ins across all communities.

Waltonwood Cary Parkway announces new move-in coordinator, life enrichment manager

Sintayehu Lenahan is the new independent living life enrichment manager, and Matthew Delgado is the new move-in coordinator, at Waltonwood Cary Parkway, an independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Cary, NC.

Lenahan brings more than two years of experience to her new role. She most recently worked in the assisted living and memory care neighborhoods at Waltonwood Cary Parkway.

Delgado has a background in the moving industry and in his new role will provide residents and their families with all the essentials to ensure a smooth transition into the community.

Sabra Health Care REIT appoints Ann Kono to board

Ann Kono has been appointed to the Sabra Health Care REIT Board of Directors.

Kono is CEO of Leda Advisory Group, a management consulting firm she founded in January 2019 that partners with startup companies to advise on growth and scale. Prior to founding Leda, Kono spent 11 years at Ares Management Corp., where she held the position of chief information and risk officer. Since 2019, she has served on the board of directors of Stable Road Acquisition Co.

Kono has more than 20 years of experience in the finance industry. She has an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business and an undergraduate degree in finance from Boston University.

Lument adds David Boitano to senior housing and healthcare team

David Boitano has joined commercial real estate finance firm Lument as a managing director.

He will be responsible for delivering a broad array of debt and structured products to the firm’s senior housing and healthcare clients. Boitano will be based in Tacoma, WA, and will be part of Lument’s western region senior housing and healthcare production team co-led by Casey Moore and Doug Harper, both managing directors.

Boitano has 25 years of experience in senior housing finance. Before joining Lument, he was a senior vice president at real estate investment trust Ventas, where he completed more than $15 billion in healthcare real estate transactions. Before that, he served as chief financial officer and then senior vice president of finance and acquisitions for Alterra Healthcare.

NBH Bank announces new leaders

Jody Hodges is the new managing director of Denver-based NBH Bank’s healthcare team. She has been with NBH for more than a year.

Also, Brian Brigham has been named senior portfolio manager. He will lead the team’s portfolio managers.
