Messiah Lifeways promotes two to VP roles

Kimberly Valvo, NHA, and Matthew J. Gallardo have been promoted to vice president at Messiah Lifeways, Mechanicsburg, PA.

As vice president of health services, Valvo will oversee all levels of living in the continuum of care at the company’s resident communities: Messiah Village and Mount Joy Country Homes. These two communities offer residential living, personal care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care.

For the past four years, Valvo was executive director of resident communities at Messiah Lifeways. A nursing home administrator, she has more than 18 years of experience working with older adults in senior living and care settings.

As vice president of resident and client services, Gallardo will oversee campus, dining and enrichment services. He has worked at the company for 18 years, most recently as senior director of community engagement. 

Both promotions were made in conjunction with the departure of former vice president of operations, Kelli Mills. Mills worked for the company for 30 years.

The Springs at Butte promotes Valerie DeTonancour executive director

Valerie DeTonancour has been promoted to executive director at The Springs at Butte, Butte, MT, part of The Springs Living. In her new role, she will oversee all facets of the senior living community.

DeTonancour formerly was director of health at the company. She also co-facilitates the Family Matters Support Group.

DeTonancour, a registered nurse and certified dementia practitioner, has worked in many settings, ranging from community health centers to the department of corrections. She is in the process of completing a Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Texas Civitas community hires new executive director

Donna Hohm has joined Tech Ridge Oaks, a Civitas Senior Living community in the Austin, TX, area, as executive director.

In this capacity, Hohm will manage daily operations of the assisted living and memory care community and will oversee all employees. She brings two decades of experience in senior living management to the role. 

Hohm is also a licensed vocational nurse with 37 years of nursing experience. 

LeadingAge Florida promotes Dawn Jiménez to COO

Dawn Jiménez has been promoted to chief operating officer at LeadingAge Florida, Tallahassee. 

Previously, she was vice president of operations, a role via which she oversaw the company’s continuing professional education and events, group purchasing, event exhibits and sponsorships. 

In her new capacity, she will continue to oversee the company’s day-to-day operations and work to drive operational efficiencies, manage new member growth initiatives and implement non-dues revenue strategies.

Jiménez holds a degree in industrial and organizational psychology from St. Mary’s College of California.

LeadingAge PA hires new SVP and government affairs chief

Charles “Chuck” Quinnan will join LeadingAge PA, Mechanicsburg, PA, as senior vice president and chief of government affairs on Jan. 31, succeeding Anne Henry, who is retiring.

Quinnan has been the associate state director for advocacy and outreach at AARP Pennsylvania. Other positions he had held include director of intergovernmental affairs, as well as executive director of the Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Council, with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.

Quinnan received his undergraduate degree in public policy from Penn State and attended the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs and the Legislative Staff Management Institute via the National Conference of State Legislature. 

Lifespace Communities welcomes three executives to board of directors

Lifespace Communities of Dallas and West Des Moines, IA, has welcomed three new members to its board of director members: David S. Williams III, co-founder and CEO of Care3; Gary Blackford, chairman of Avanos Medical; and Jonathan Sokeye, chief financial officer of Carolina Complete Health.

The organization said it plans to take advantage of the new members’ experiences in healthcare, corporate finance, data and operations as it embarks upon a driven growth strategy.

Each of the three new board members will serve four-year terms. The terms of Paul Shives and Robert Kehm are ending in April.

Lifespace, which includes 14 life care communities in seven states, is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.

Legacy Senior Living names two co-directors for chaplaincy program

David Riggs and Mark LeRoux have been selected by Legacy Senior Living, Cleveland, TN, as co-directors of the company’s chaplaincy program. They will oversee spiritual life at 15 locations across the eastern United States.

Riggs has been chaplain at Legacy Village of Cleveland, TN, since 2018, and LeRoux has ben chaplain at Legacy Village of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, AL, since 2019. Together, they will be responsible for overseeing the individual chaplaincy programs spanning all 15 communities operated by the organization.

Riggs has been in ministry for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he has served in many capacities in churches in Michigan, Colorado, Nebraska and Tennessee. Most recently, he was church staff chaplain at Peerless Road Church in Cleveland, TN.

LeRoux will oversee spiritual leaders at The Harbor at Opelika, AL; The Harbor at Hickory Hill, Prattville, AL; Legacy Village at Park Regency, Moultrie, GA; Legacy Village at Plantation Manor, Thomasville, GA; Grace Senior Living of Douglasville, GA; and Renaissance Marquis of Rome, GA. He also will continue to serve as chaplain at Legacy Village of Jacksonville, AL.

Chief corporate development officer leaves Omega

Steven J. Insoft, former chief corporate development officer at Omega Healthcare Investors, ended his employment with the real estate investment trust Jan. 1, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

ALG Senior chief of staff named to NC Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging

Joseph Souma Joseph Sr., chief of staff at ALG Senior, has been appointed by North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging, the governor announced. His term will end June 30, 2023. Joseph also is the former principal and CEO of Assisted Living Solutions.

Dele Health Tech welcomes Jessica Heck-Wesley as VP of sales, senior living

Jessica Heck Wesley has joined Dele Health Tech as vice president of sales, senior living.

In her new position, Heck Wesley will lead the U.S.-based sales team and work to further extend the company’s footprint in the senior living marketplace. She also will focus on sharing the company’s falls management solutions with independent living, assisted living, memory care and continuing care retirement communities. 

Heck Wesley has more than 10 years of experience in sales and operations in the senior living industry. Her past leadership roles have included positions as a community-level executive director and a company chief strategy officer.
