Vi announces executive leadership changes

Chicago, IL-based Vi has announced changes to its executive leadership team. 

Randy Richardson, current president, is retiring May 31. Until then, he will serve in an advisory capacity. Current Chief Financial Officer Gary Smith will succeed him as president.

Additionally:

  • Tara Cope, senior vice president, has been promoted to executive vice president, chief legal and administration officer. Cope has worked at the company for 17 years.
  • Cary Maslow, senior vice president of operations, has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer. He has worked at Vi for two decades.
  • Tom Muszynski, vice president of finance and Vi’s controller for 18 years, has been promoted to chief finance officer.

Nazareth Home announces Sarah Askin as CFO

Sarah Askin has joined Nazareth Home as chief financial officer. 

In her new position, Askin will help to forecast the overall financial vision of the company. Before joining Nazareth Home, Askin worked at Welenken CPAs.

She has an undergraduate degree in business from Indiana University Southeast.

Anthem Memory Care hires vice president of operations

Sheila Carwile has joined Anthem Memory Care as vice president of operations.

In her new role, Carwile will be in charge of overall management and performance of nine memory care communities in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Utah and Washington. 

Carwile has a decade of experience in senior living. Before joining the company, she was regional operations consultant with 12 Oaks Senior Living.

Carwile has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Troy University and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Morning Pointe Senior Living promotes Rebecca Swingle to regional director

Rebecca Swingle has been promoted to regional director of sales and marketing of Morning Pointe Senior Living’s Appalachian division, based in Ooltewah, TN. 

In her new role, Swingle will be in charge of optimizing all sales and campus marketing for 14 Morning Pointe communities across eastern Tennessee. Before joining Morning Pointe’s regional team, Swingle was community relations director at Morning Pointe Knoxville.

She has a master’s in public health degree from the University of Tennessee. 

Retirement Unlimited welcomes Austin Payne as regional director

Austin Payne, BSN, RN, CDON, CALN, has joined Retirement Unlimited Inc.,Roanoke, VA, as Florida regional director of clinical services. 

In this capacity, Payne will provide clinical support and oversight at all Florida RUI communities. 

Payne worked as a director of nursing and executive director for assisted living and memory care communities across Virginia before switching to a regional clinical role. He is a certified assisted living nurse and certified director of nursing via the National Association of Directors of Nursing in Long-Term Care.

Oak Crest brings on Todd Sullivan as new associate executive director

Todd Sullivan has joined Oak Crest, a Parkville, MD-based Erickson Senior Living community, as associate executive director. 

In this capacity, he will support daily operations of the 87-acre campus and focus on resident satisfaction and employee engagement outcomes. 

Sullivan started working at Oak Crest 15 years ago in the philanthropy and communications sector while working toward his master’s degree in management of aging services at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Erickson School of Aging. 

For the past four years, he was director of resident life at Maris Grove, an Erickson community in Glen Mills, PA.

Former NIC Director of Research Harvey Singer passes away

Harvey Singer, former director of research for the National Investment Center for Seniors’ Housing & Care, passed away Feb. 22 after a brief illness. 

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Harvard Business School, according to his obituary, he began teaching marketing at the American University in 1977. What followed was a career in the home-building industry, including at Ryland Homes and Crestwood Communities. Later, he returned to research at Legg Mason, NIC and Delta Associates.

“His influence was enormous in building the credibility of the NIC MAP industry database,” NIC co-founder Bob Kramer said on LinkedIn, calling Singer a “key contributor” to the senior housing industry.

Singer retired in 2008 but continued working in senior housing research with the American Senior Housing Association. He also was an adjunct professor at John Hopkins University and Georgetown University. 

East Tennessee Pharmacy Services promotes Robin Smith to president

Robin Smith, Pharm.D., has been promoted to president at East Tennessee Pharmacy Services, Knoxville, TN. The company is a member of Guardian Pharmacy Services, one of the nation’s largest long-term care pharmacy companies.

In her new capacity, Smith will continue driving all aspects of daily operations while increasing engagement with customers. She also will help with the general growth of the company. 

Smith first joined East Tennessee Pharmacy Services as director of operations in 2014. She has helped to double the resident count, implement new automation leading to workflow efficiencies, and solidified the company for more growth down the line.

Smith has a master’s degree in health administration from Simmons University and a doctorate of pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland.
