Discovery Senior Living appoints Hilary Bullard as president of Morada Senior Living brand
Hilary G. Bullard has been appointed the first-ever president of Discovery Senior Living’s Morada Senior Living brand.
Bullard brings more than 15 years of experience managing senior and multi-family housing assets. She most recently was vice president of senior housing asset management for Healthpeak Properties.
Bullard began her career with J.P. Morgan, where she oversaw top-tier and middle-market senior housing communities across multiple states. She also led a portfolio of multi-family assets in the mid-Atlantic region from the pre-construction phases on through disposition. At Healthpeak, Bullard oversaw a variety of senior housing operating portfolio and triple net lease relationships, including one with Discovery Senior Living.
Born from the Jan. 21 acquisition of 16 former Healthpeak properties largely in Texas, Morada Senior Living will be based in Dallas and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under Bullard’s leadership. A regionally based sales and marketing structure also will be implemented, with a range of support functions — operations, finance, accounting, business intelligence — provided by the Discovery Senior Living corporate office in Florida.
Discovery Senior Living owns and operates a national, multi-brand portfolio of more than 70 communities in 15 states.
Beztak names Jason Kohler executive vice president
Jason Kohler has been named executive vice president by Oakland Management Corp. to develop Beztak’s senior living portfolio and open multiple communities in the coming year.
Kohler is a senior living executive with more than 18 years of progressive leadership experience. He most recently was CEO of Tapestry Senior Living, where he is credited with developing a path to opening new developments in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Before that, he spent almost 15 years in leadership roles with Five Star Senior Living and Life Care Services.
Beztak owns and manages a diverse portfolio of more than 36,000 units, including commercial, office, retail, senior living and multi-family residential real estate.
Morning Pointe Senior Living announces two VPs
Doru Mihaescu, RN, has been named vice president of information technology, and Gerald “Gerry” Jackson has been named regional vice president of operations for the Bluegrass region, at Chattanooga, TN-based Morning Pointe Senior Living.
Mihaescu will oversee cybersecurity, technical support and software development.
He previously worked at Southern Adventist University and is the developer of a piece of medical software — among the first of its kind — to address the security and integrity of patient health information. Mihaescu also previously worked as a registered nurse.
Jackson will oversee operations for 12 senior living and memory care communities in Kentucky and Indiana. A 30-year veteran of the senior living and healthcare industry, he most recently worked at Solstice Senior Living. Jackson holds certifications as a virtual dementia presenter, Best Friends Approach trainer and Alzheimer’s Association dementia CARES practitioner.
New Integral community appoints five
La Marea Senior Living, an Integral Senior Living community specializing in assisted living and memory care services, has hired six professionals ahead of its grand opening later this spring.
Anthony Bawalan, LVN, is resident care director; Solana Sloat is Vibrant Life director; Natasha Avedisian is culinary service director; Sebastian Diaz is building services director, and Sylvia Spears is business office director.
Bawalan has worked in a variety of roles, including caregiver and medical technician, in his career, which has spanned more than 16 years. As resident care director, he will be responsible for creating a loving and supporting community for residents.
Sloat will be responsible for creating events and initiatives to improve resident life. Before taking on her new role, she worked as an activities assistant, resident service coordinator and memory care manager at several senior living communities. She earned an undergraduate degree in gerontology at California State University, San Marcos.
Avedisian comes to her new role with 15 years of experience and an associate degree in culinary arts from the Art Institute of California, San Diego. With experience in restaurants, catering companies and cruise lines, she will now be in charge of the community’s Elevate dining program.
Diaz, before being hired for his new position, spent 11 years in the senior living and care industry. He began as a janitor and quickly earned his way to a director position before following his passion for senior care to La Marea, with the vision of helping shape a community from its first day.
Spears possesses more than two decades’ worth of experience in senior living and care, including as an executive director. Her favorite part of the business is supporting associates to create a warm and supportive community atmosphere from the ground up.
Maplewood Senior living announces three at new Princeton location
Lisa Williams has been announced as executive director, Michael Tucker is director of business development and Leslie Conover is community relations director at Maplewood Senior Living’s new Princeton, NJ, community, Maplewood at Princeton.
Located on the campus of Penn Medicine-Princeton Health, the community is scheduled to open this summer and offer assisted living, memory care and short-term care options.
Williams will provide leadership and oversee day-to-day operations, including the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and improvement of program services, management of staff and delivery of services to residents and families. She has more than 20 years of senior living and care experience, 16 of them as an administrator. She chairs the New Jersey Assisted Living Council and is a member of the Health Care Association of New Jersey.
Tucker will be responsible for establishing strategic partnerships with healthcare professionals and community organizations that assist older adults looking to move into senior living residences. He has extensive experience building relationships with healthcare professions and previously worked for pharmaceutical companies in sales and marketing.
Conover will work directly with families, providing information to assist in selecting living options. She also will act as a community resource for those in need of senior living planning. She has more than 25 years of sales experience in senior living and hospitality.
Waltonwood Cotswold names Eric Davis as executive director
Eric Davis has been named executive director of Waltonwood Cotswold in Charlotte, NC.
Davis began his career with Waltonwood as a third-shift wellness nurse when Waltonwood Providence opened in 2015. He was promoted to assisted living wellness coordinator, then to associate executive director for the Southeast region, where he supported five communities.
Davis began his nursing career with another senior living provider, serving as a caregiver, med tech, wellness nurse and resident care director. He went on to serve as an enhanced assisted living coordinator at another senior living community in Penfield, NY, before joining Waltonwood.
Bridges by EPOCH appoints Catherine Kent as senior adviser
Catherine Kent has been named a senior adviser at Bridges by EPOCH at Westwood, a memory care assisted living community in Westwood, MA.
In her new role, Kent will guide, educate and assist area families looking for support in their caregiving journey. She will also build relationships with senior services professionals who are seeking specialized memory care solutions for their clients’ long-term needs.
Kent has a background in hospitality services, sales and marketing for hotels in New England and Los Angeles.
LTC Properties appoints Cornelia Cheng as new board member
Cornelia Cheng has been elected as a new member of the board of Westlake Village, CA-based LTC Properties. Her appointment increases the number of directors from five to six; 50% of them are women.
Cheng brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, recapitalization, real estate investment trust financings and talent management to LTC’s board.
She is managing director of investments for Brightwood Capital Advisors, a private credit fund specializing in uni-tranche facilities, first and second lenient term loans, and mezzanine investments. Before joining Brightwood, Cheng was regional head of the greater Los Angeles investment team for Prudential Capital Group and a senior associate for CIBC World Markets.
Landis Quality Living appoints Kevin Ressler to board of directors
Kevin Ressler has joined the board of directors of Landis Quality Living, an organization formed by Landis Communities to oversee affordable living options for adults aged 55 or more years
Ressler is president and CEO of the United Way of Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. He also serves on the boards of Lanco MyHome, Meals on Wheels, UPMC Lititz, Everence Financial Credit Union and the Partnership for Public Health. He formerly spent more than five years as executive director of Meals on Wheels of Lancaster.
Ressler previously served on the Lancaster General / Penn Health Mission and Community Benefit Committee and had ties to Conestoga Valley Education Foundation Assets Lancaster, the Atlantic Coast Conference of Mennonite Church USA, the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society’s Roots Education events planning committee and the Community Board, Friends of Mennonite Theological College of East Africa.
He has experience in envisioning how organizations can work in new ways to assist existing and future clients.
Morrison Living names Tracy Blazer national liaison for Jewish communities
Tracy Blazer has been named the new national liaison for Jewish communities by Morrison Living, a hospitality service provider for senior living communities.
Blazer, former regional director for the Atlanta-based company, will guide, assist and support Morrison Living Jewish community partners across the country to ensure that they enhance the Jewish cultural experience around food for residents.
The creation of the new role is designed to ensure that residents are able to follow their faith in their new homes.
Legacy Healthcare Services appoints Joel Dieterle as regional director
Joel Dieterle has been named North Carolina and Virginia regional director of business development by Raleigh, NC-based national therapy services provider Legacy Healthcare Services.
Dieterle brings more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry to his new position. He will be responsible for capturing new business opportunities in North Carolina and Virginia.
Dieterle most recently was regional director of business development for RehabCare, where he sought new business opportunities for the company’s initiative to provide rehabilitative services to assisted living and independent living communities as well as skilled nursing facilities.
Legacy Healthcare Services is a therapist-driven provider of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and wellness services for assisted living, independent living and memory care providers.
Pollyette Milligan inducted into 2021 Marquis Who’s Who
Pollyette S. Milligan, the executive director of two Oklahoma City senior living communities, has been inducted into the Marquis Who’s Who biographical registry.
Since 2019, Milligan has been the executive director of Willowood at Mustang Senior Living in Mustang and Emerald Square Senior Living in Oklahoma City. She oversees operations and delivery of services and care at more than 100 senior housing apartments across multiple levels of care, including independent and assisted living and specialty memory care services.
Milligan began her career in geriatric care as a certified nursing assistant before moving into healthcare administration. She previously was Oklahoma executive director of ResCare Home Care, overseeing multiple home- and community-based services offices. She later was executive director of a Brookdale assisted living and memory care community in Oklahoma City.
As a Google-certified author, Milligan has written numerous magazine articles about senior living and is a mentor to local university students and up-and-coming senior living administrators. She is pursuing a doctorate in business administration from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.
Milligan maintains a professional affiliation with the Oklahoma Assisted Living Association and the Oklahoma Partnership for Home Care Professionals.
