Argentum names Brent Weil to newly created role of VP of workforce development

Alexandria, VA-based Argentum has named Brent Weil as the association’s vice president of workforce development, a newly created position.

Weil will focus his efforts on the challenges and opportunities facing the senior living industry in professional development, recruiting and retaining workers to care for the growing population of older Americans.

“It is becoming increasingly important to cultivate opportunities that encourage talented and dedicated workers to see senior living as a career choice,” said Argentum President and CEO James Balda said in a statement. “The addition of Brent and this new position are key steps in addressing the industry’s workforce challenges and in providing the tools and resources to assist senior housing and care providers.”

In 2015, Argentum cited workforce development as one of the association’s critical focus areas, and the issue remains top of mind for senior living leadership across the country. The senior living industry will need to add 347,000 new jobs and recruit 1.2 million new employees by 2025, according to the association’s research.

Weil has 15 years of experience developing workforce solutions to recruitment challenges. Most recently, he was senior vice president of education and workforce for the Manufacturing Institute, a subsidiary of the National Association of Manufacturers in Washington, D.C. There, Weil managed a team focused on industry engagement and educational partnerships and executed a strategic plan to build career pathways into manufacturing.

His career also includes positions as vice president of staffing and mid-Atlantic operations for PrimeFlight Aviation Services in Nashville, TN, and as manager of national partnerships for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C.

Weil earned an undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford University and a Master of Education degree from George Washington University.

Angie Snyder named chief marketing officer for Aegis Living

Angie Snyder has been named the new chief marketing officer at Bellevue, WA-based assisted living and memory care community operator Aegis Living.

In her new role, she will oversee marketing, sales, brand management, communications and the resident life enrichment program for the Aegis Living, reporting to the company president. Snyder will direct strategic initiatives for the corporate entity and all 29 assisted living properties across three states. Additionally, she will help launch new Aegis Living communities, including two that are planned in the greater Seattle area this year and another eight over the next several years.

Snyder comes to Aegis Living With more than 20 years of management experience. She recently spent more than a dozen years with Nordstrom, where her latest title was vice president of marketing. In that role, she supported growth and expansion for Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack and led several change initiatives to help the company better compete in the evolving retail industry. Snyder’s contributions at Nordstrom also included consumer insights, brand strategy, corporate strategy and finance. Before Nordstrom, she led the repositioning of the Renaissance Marriott brand.

Snyder has an undergraduate degree from Willamette University and an MBA from the University of Maryland.

Julia Zoss is executive director of Market Street Memory Care Residence Viera

Julia Zoss has been named executive director of Market Street Memory Care Residence, a 60-unit Watercrest Senior Living Group community in Viera, FL.

Zoss has more than 13 years of combined leadership experience in assisted living, memory care and hospice, including service as a nurse for the Department of Defense. She earned an undergraduate degree in healthcare management and nursing.

Joshua Chang named director of finance at Eagle’s Trace

Joshua Chang has been hired as director of finance at Eagle’s Trace, an Erickson Living retirement community in Houston.

He will be responsible for strategic financial management, accounting and budgeting at the 71-acre campus. He also will provide business analysis and risk management support to the community’s executive team.

Chang has more than 20 years of experience in the information technology and financial sectors. Before joining Eagle’s Trace, he served as the finance leader for Hewlett Packard in its U.S. federal civilian segment, with clients that included NASA and the U.S. Postal Service.  Previously, he was a consulting manager for worldwide firms such as Arthur Andersen and KPMG.

Chang holds an undergraduate degree in risk management and insurance and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a certified public accountant and project management professional and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Project Management Institute.

Michelle Finke promoted to sales and marketing manager at Spring Mill

Michelle Finke has been promoted to the position of sales and marketing manager at Spring Mill, Presby’s Inspired Life’s 95-unit residential living, personal care and memory support community in Lafayette Hill, PA.

Finke joined the not-for-profit, faith-based Presby’s Inspired Life in March 2015, working in the sales and marketing department at the organization’s Rydal Park campus in Pennsylvania, where she was integral to the success of marketing events for Rydal Park and the new Rydal Waters expansion, according to the company. She assisted with planning and execution, resulting in increased attendance and guest satisfaction. 

In her new role, advises potential residents and manages the development of all Spring Mill marketing strategy and materials in conjunction with senior leadership.

Finke is a 2014 graduate of Temple University, where she earned a degree in business management, with an emphasis on marketing.

Cynthia Gerante appointed director of community relations at Bridges by Epoch at Sudbury

Cynthia Gerante has been appointed director of community relations at Bridges by Epoch at Sudbury, a memory care assisted living community scheduled to open this summer in Sudbury, MA.

She will focus on building relationships with local organizations and offering guidance to families considering memory care assisted living.

Gerante has more than 21 years of sales experience. Before joining Epoch, she was sales and marketing director for at The Residence at Orchard Grove, an LCB Senior Living community in Shrewsbury, MA. In addition, Gerante has served as clinical liaison for a Northeast-based senior living provider.

Gerante has an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut with a specialization in health systems management.
