Oakmont Senior Living promotes Scott Carlson to SVP of operations

Scott Carlson has been promoted to senior vice president of operations at Oakmont Senior Living, Irvine, CA.

Carlson first joined the company in 2017, serving as regional vice president of operations of Northern California communities. Before joining Oakmont, he worked at Brookdale Senior Living in management roles such as executive director and district director of operations.

Carlson has an undergraduate degree in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco, as well as an executive certificate in sales leadership from Florida State University and a residential care facility for elderly administrator certificate from the California Department of Social Services.

BrightStar promotes Pete First to chief development officer

Pete First has been promoted to chief development officer at BrightStar of Gurnee, IL. 

In this position, First will recruit new franchise owners for the three brands under the BrightStar Group Holdings umbrella: BrightStar Senior Living, BrightStar Care Homes and BrightStar Care. First also will lead operations for BrightStar Senior Living, BrightStar Care Homes, which are start-up brands, and he will support the expansion into new markets.

Before his promotion, First had been senior vice president of franchise development since 2018, taking on an expanded role over sales and operations for the BrightStar Senior Living Brand (and, most recently, expanding the BrightStar Care Homes program). He increased the number of BrightStar Care locations to 365.

Prior to joining BrightStar Care, First spent 14 years at Winmark Corp.

Discovery Senior Living promotes Lou Maranto to SVP of sales

Lou Maranto has been promoted to senior vice president of sales at Discovery Senior Living, Bonita Springs, FL.

In his new role, Maranto will continue overseeing the company’s national sales organization. He also will focus on the development and execution of sales strategies, continued expansion of the company’s national and regional brands, future-phase rollouts of key sales contact center offerings and the provision of sales leadership to the company’s new senior living products.

Maranto had been vice president of sales since 2018 where he is credited with helping to launch a centralized sales contact center in February 2021.

The Lantern at Morning Pointe announces Matthia Kelley as executive director

Matthia Kelley has joined The Lantern at Morning Pointe, Louisville, KY, as executive director. 

In this capacity for Morning Pointe Senior Living, Kelley will oversee the daily operations of the Alzheimer’s / memory care community. Previously, she worked in the healthcare services industry for 12 years. Prior to her current position, she served in a director of nursing role for three years.

Kelley has an undergraduate degree in nursing from Kentucky Christian University. Additionally, she is a wound care-certified nurse and a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Society.

The Springs at Greer Gardens welcome Brandon Hart as executive director

Brandon Hart has been promoted to executive director at The Springs at Greer Gardens, Eugene, OR. 

In his new position, Hart will oversee all aspects of the senior living community, including health services, dining services, maintenance and all operations of the community.

Before this promotion at The Spring Living community, Hart most recently was health services administrator. In this role, he oversaw assisted living and the Footsteps memory care at The Springs at Greer Gardens. He has almost two decades of health services experience.

Riderwood promotes Josh Runkles to director of sales

Josh Runkles has been promoted to director of sales at Riderwood, a Silver Spring, MD, continuing care retirement community managed by Erickson Senior Living.

Runkles has more than 16 years of experience in senior living management and operations. He began his career in the senior living field in 2005 in Oak Crest, another Erickson-managed CCRC. For the past three years, prior to his promotion, he served as sales manager.

Runkles graduated from Towson University.

Brooksby Village promotes Gina Fernandez to director of sales

Gina Fernandez, a 20-year campus veteran, has been promoted to director of sales at Brooksby Village, an Erickson Senior Living-managed community based in Peabody, MA.

Fernandez first started working at Brooksby Village in 2002 as a student server in one of the community’s restaurants. Since then, she has held various leadership roles at the company, such as administrative assistant for dining services and sales manager.

She has an undergraduate degree in communications from Salem State University.

Watermark Retirement Communities’ Bryan Schachter awarded Tuscon LLS award

Bryan Schachter of Watermark Retirement Communities, Tucson, AZ, as well as the company as a whole, have been recognized by the Tuscon Leukemia and Lymphoma Society award for raising more than $105,000 in the company’s 2021 Light the Night fundraiser. 

Schachter’s efforts in this campaign resulted in him being the eighth largest fundraiser in the country for the nonprofit organization, as well as the first in Tuscon. Watermark also has been honored by LLS Tuscon, receiving the national corporate team IMPACT award, recognizing the company’s fundraising efforts. 

Lument welcomes Leor Dimant as managing director

Leor Dimant has joined Lument, New York, NY, as managing director. He will report to Aaron Becker, the company’s head of seniors housing and healthcare production

In this capacity, Dimant will focus on starting new business. His experience includes conventional, seniors and multifamily production.

Previously, Dimant was managing director at Greystone. He also served in the Israeli Defense Forces for four years. 

Dimant is located in Miami, but will serve clients nationwide.

Ventas welcomes Michael J. Embler to board of directors

Michael J. Embler has joined the board of directors at Chicago-based real estate investment trust Ventas, the REIT announced Monday. He will serve on the Investment and Audit Committees. 

Embler has 30 years of experience across corporate finance, capital markets and asset management, including experience as both a buy-side institutional investor and service on other public company boards. From 2005 to 2009, he was chief investment officer at Franklin Mutual Advisors, an asset management subsidiary of Franklin Resources Inc. He was vice president and head of Franklin Mutual Advisers’ Distressed Investment Group from 2001 to 2005.

Earlier in his career, Embler spent almost a decade in positions of increasing responsibility at Nomura Holdings America, culminating in the position of managing director co-heading its Proprietary Distressed Debt/Special Situations Group.

Embler is an independent director on the boards of American Airlines Group and NMI Holdings and has previously served as a director at public REIT, Taubman Centers, and public healthcare company Kindred Healthcare, as well as at CIT Group, Dynegy and AboveNet. He holds certificates in environmental conservation and sustainability from the Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability and in Cyber Security Oversight from the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Ventas also announced that Jay M. Gellert, a current Ventas director who has served on the company’s board since 2001, will retire from the board during the REIT’s annual meeting. Additionally, Melody C. Barnes is expected to serve as chair of the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committee, effective at the company’s annual meeting.

Sentrics welcomes Jamie Oakes as chief revenue officer

Jamie Oakes has joined Sentrics, Garland, TX, as chief revenue officer. He will design and execute new sales strategies, as well as repeatable sales frameworks, to drive further growth.

Oakes has 25 years of experience and previously served at Fortune 500 and private equity-owned companies in many healthcare fields. Prior to joining Sentrics, he was chief sales officer at Tract Manager, now known as Symplr.
