National Church Residences names Robert S. Walter EVP and CFO

Robert S. Walter, CPA, has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer for National Church Residences, Columbus, OH. 

In his new role, Walter will provide strategic planning, operational reporting and accounting expertise to the company. He has more than 25 years of experience in leadership in the finance field.

Before joining National Church Residences, Walter was the CFO at EWI for five years. There, he was the chief financial spokesperson and was responsible for shaping the organization’s strategic and tactical approaches to operations, business strategy, capital funding and resource management. Walter also served on the company’s board of directors from 2019 to 2019 as a member of the finance and audit committee and as a chairman of the investment committee.

American House Senior Living Communities promotes Brianne Zitko to COO

Brianne Zitko has been promoted to chief operating officer by the American House Senior Living Communities, Southfield, MI. 

In her new role, Zitko will oversee the day-to-day operations for more than 50 of the company’s communities. She also will execute the company’s operational strategy and mission for all of its communities.

Most recently, Zitko was the senior vice president of growth strategy for American House, where she has worked since 2019. Before joining the company, she held various leadership roles at Sunrise Senior Living, Belmont Village and Brookdale Senior Living.

12 Oaks Senior Living announces Marcus Van Ameringen as VP of business development

Marcus Van Ameringen has been appointed vice president of business development by 12 Oaks Senior Living, Dallas. 

In this role, he will use his more than 25 years of experience in driving investment strategy and creating value via direct oversight and underwriting property operations; leasing and marketing; and capital deployment.

Before joining 12 Oaks, Ameringen was the senior vice president of acquisitions at Lloyd Jones, a Miami-based multifamily and senior housing firm, where he brought many off-market deals and portfolios to the table. He also opened the seniors housing investment sales division at the Colliers International Atlanta office.

National Church Residences appoints Linda Marshall as VP of operations design

Linda Marshall has been appointed as vice president of operations for National Church Residences of Columbus, OH.

In her new role, Marshall will be responsible for the direct day-to-day work of the operations design team, with the goal of enhancing senior living residents’ experiences via streamlined, innovative and improved operations. Examples of those operations include healthcare delivery, culinary services, resident programming and technology systems for senior living communities’ independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing services. 

Marshall has more than 25 years of experience in long-term care. She holds a master’s degree in health sciences from Cleveland State University.

Providence Senior Living hires Gary Iverson as vice president of operations

Gary Iverson will join Providence Senior Living, a part of ProvidenceOne of Orlando, FL, as vice president of operations.

In his new role, Iverson will oversee daily operations of all properties, as well as leadership and team development, and he will aid in the growth of acquired or newly built properties. Iverson will also serve as the interim executive director of Providence Living at Maitland, Providence Senior Living’s new memory care assisted living community.

Iverson has more than 25 years of experience in elderly healthcare and senior living, including time as an executive director in local, regional and national roles in long-term care portfolios throughout the country.

National Church Residences promotes four vice presidents

Jill Kolb, Jacob Swint, Daniele Thomas and Julie Woolley have been promoted to the position of vice president by National Church Residences, Columbus, OH. 

Kolb will be the vice president of housing accounting. She currently is senior director in the housing accounting department, where she supervises a team of 30. She has been with the company since 2013. Previously, Kolb worked at Plante Moran, where she served clients in the senior living, affordable housing and nonprofit industries.

Swint has been promoted to vice president of strategic growth and operations support. He will be responsible for supervising the senior services sales team and maintaining his current electronic medical records supervision and management. Swint has worked at the company for two years.

Thomas has been promoted to vice president of education. For two decades, she has provided leadership and strategic direction for the company’s education department. There, she oversees education goals, strategies and learning management systems. She has been with the company since 2001.

Woolley has been promoted to vice president, associate general counsel. Currently, she leads daily operations of the legal department and is the HIPAA privacy officer. In her new role, Woolley will have direct supervisory responsibility for senior counsel and records and information management, such as overseeing the corporate records department. She has been with the company for four years.

Eliza Bryant Village Board of Trustees appoints Cecil Lipscomb as chair

Cecil Lipscomb has been appointed as the chair of the Eliza Bryant Village Board of Trustees, Cleveland. 

Lipscomb will serve a two-year term that started April 26. He also has served in various leadership roles with the organization, including as the first vice chair and chair of the strategic planning committee. He has been a board member for five years.

Lipscomb is the executive director of the United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland and previously was the senior director of institutes at Cleveland Clinic as well as a director of fundraising for the Case Western Reserve University School of Engineering.

ACHCA announces Rudy Michalek as interim president and CEO

Rudy Michalek has been named interim president and CEO by the American College of Health Care Administrators, Washington, DC. 

Michalek will begin his new role on May 24. He has been a member and fellow of the association for 38 years. 

The news follows the March announcement of the retirement of Bill McGinley. The ACHCA Board of Directors is in strategic planning mode for the future direction of the organization and is exploring collaboration with other organizations.

Ryan Companies relocates senior vice president Dan Walsh to Dallas

Dan Walsh, senior vice president of senior living development at Ryan Companies US in Chicago, will be relocated to Dallas. The company said the move reflects its commitment to expanding its senior housing footprint.

Walsh has 30 years of commercial real estate experience, including developing more than 2,300 senior living units. He also has built almost 50 senior living communities throughout the country and, of those, developed 26.
