MSP Real Estate and Heritage Senior Living add new vice president of asset management

Brian Martin has been hired as the new vice president of asset management for MSP Real Estate, a developer of senior housing communities, and Heritage Senior Living, the largest senior living company headquartered in Wisconsin.

MSP Real Estate is the parent company of Heritage Senior Living and manages the development of all their new communities.

As vice president of asset management, Martin will oversee the financial performance of all MSP Real Estate-owned properties, particularly during the opening and lease-up stages of all newly constructed developments. He also will oversee the acquisition, financing, maintenance and information technology departments for all MSP Real Estate and Heritage Senior Living communities.

Martin has been in the real estate management industry for more than 11 years. Before joining MSP Real Estate and Heritage Senior Living, he was a regional asset manager in the Madison, WI, area, overseeing a portfolio of approximately 50 properties and more than 3,350 units throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. Martin’s experience covers market rate, tax-exempt bond, HUD Section 8 and HOME, USDA Rural Development and Low Income Housing Tax Credit-financed developments.

Heritage Senior Living aims to grow and develop through both acquisition and development in the coming years.

Gardant welcomes new CFO

Greg Echols has joined Gardant Management Solutions as the company’s new chief financial officer.

Echols has a 30-year career in accounting, financial management, real estate development and the senior housing and care sector, for the past five years serving as CFO of a Tennessee-based multistate operator of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities.

He earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and is a certified public accountant.

Jonathan Carrier promoted to chief development officer at Seniority

Jonathan Carrier has been promoted to chief development officer at Seniority.

In this role, Carrier will lead all real estate development, operations and acquisition efforts for the Dallas-based Seniority and Senior Quality Lifestyles Corp.

During his tenure with SQLC and Seniority, Carrier successfully secured more than $250 million of financing and completed $150 million of development. Before joining Seniority, Carrier was the vice president of development for SQLC and vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was a senior member of the Dallas market and project development.

Carrier is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he received a Master of Science degree in construction management. He serves on the advisory council for Make-A-Wish Foundation and is on the board of directors for the Children’s Cancer Fund.

Kristin Stoneberg promoted to assistant administrator of continuing care at Oak Crest

Kristin Stoneberg to has been promoted to assistant administrator of continuing care at Oak Crest, an Erickson Living retirement community in Parkville, MD.

Stoneberg brings 23 years of senior healthcare experience to her new position, mainly as a speech pathologist in post-acute and long-term care settings. She began her career at Oak Crest in July 2013 as the assistant rehabilitation manager and completed the administrator-in-training program in 2017.

As assistant administrator, Stoneberg will support and implement a variety of initiatives, including the opening of a new memory care neighborhood in the spring that features 38 private rooms with a person-centered approach to care. The continuing care neighborhood at Oak Crest provides assisted living, long-term care and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services.

A licensed nursing home administrator in Maryland, Stoneberg holds an undergraduate degree in speech pathology and audiology and a master’s degree in speech pathology from Towson University. She is also a licensed speech-language pathologist and since 1994 has been a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association.

Susann Varano, M.D., named Maplewood Senior Living’s new resident care specialist

Susann Varano, M.D., has been named resident care specialist at Maplewood Care Center, Westport, CT.

In this new role, she is responsible for coordinating and facilitating quality, cost-effective care while minimizing fragmentation of the healthcare delivery system for Maplewood residents. Additionally, Varano will provide complex care management to residents and coordination of care between resident, family, primary care physicians, specialists, acute and post-acute providers and other members of the resident care team.

“We work together with residents and their families to assess their specific care needs and provide an individualized plan that will help meet those needs,” Gregory D. Smith, president and CEO of Maplewood Senior Living, said in a statement. “This new position brings Dr. Varano’s advanced clinical knowledge and skill to our care teams and will enhance the excellent care we already deliver.”

Double board-certified, Varano specializes in internal medicine and has a subspecialty in geriatric medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship at Yale University. Varano created the Elder Horizons program at Yale New Haven Hospital.

In addition to pursuing her passion of geriatric medicine, Varano has helped advance medicine, serving as principal investigator on more than 100 clinical trials. She has obtained certification as diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. Varano holds an M.D. from the Chicago Medical School and an undergraduate degree from Saint Joseph’s College.

Asbury Place Maryville names Chelsea McGhee marketing coordinator

Chelsea McGhee has been named marketing coordinator for the Maryville, TN, campus of Asbury Place continuing care retirement communities.

McGhee supports Asbury Place’s director of sales and marketing, Kim Golly, with external and internal communications and special event planning. She has an extensive background in marketing and event planning with Vera House Events & Design Co.

McGhee is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she earned an undergraduate degree in communications studies. She is pursuing master’s degree in marketing from King University.

Ellen D’Ardenne named executive director of The Glebe; Brandon Evans promoted to administrator of health services

Ellen D’Ardenne has been selected as executive director of The Glebe, a LifeSpire continuing care retirement community in Daleville, VA.

Most recently, D’Ardenne served as administrator of health services at The Glebe. She joined The Glebe in 2005 as the director of dining services with more than 20 years of food service management.

In 2006, D’Ardenne began a healthcare administration degree program, which led her to become a licensed nursing home administrator in 2010. With experience in assisted living administration and skilled nursing management, she further expanded her role in April 2011 by assuming leadership of The Glebe’s health and wellness programs.

Brandon Evans succeeds D’Ardenne in her former role as administrator of health services. Evans joined The Glebe in 2011. He is a registered nurse who began his health services career as a nursing assistant, progressed to a licensed practical nurse and then obtained his registered nurse license. Evans’ nursing background includes supervisory responsibilities over a large skilled nursing program with more than 180 skilled beds, infection control, quality improvement and staff development.

Evans received his associate’s degree cum laude from Virginia Western Community College. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Jefferson College of Health Science.

MatrixCare appoints Larry Wolf chief transformation officer

Long-term post-acute care technology provider MatrixCare has appointed  Kindred Healthcare veteran Larry Wolf as chief transformation officer.

Wolf will draw on his provider background to help MatrixCare communicate its value proposition to customers and potential customers. He also will work with the leadership team to ensure that MatrixCare products continue to evolve.

Wolf has more than 40 years of experience. Prior to a successful consulting role, he served in a number of leadership roles at Kindred Healthcare, including chief information officer for emerging markets, where Wolf supported new care delivery and payment models.

He is chairman of the Health Information Management Systems Society’s Public Policy Committee and a member of the LTPAC Health IT Collaborative. He also has served on the American Health Care Association’s Health IT Task Force and the American Hospital Association’s Interoperability Advisory Group. In addition to several other high-level roles, Wolf also has served on the Federal Health IT Policy and Standards Advisory Committee.

Hammes Co. hires vice president of business development

Chris Stanley has been named vice president of business development for healthcare facility developer Hammes Co.’s southeast region.

Stanley will be responsible for healthcare facilities and strategic capital planning services, developing new business opportunities and creating customized solutions for customers’ needs throughout Florida and Georgia. He previously advised physician practices and worked in the development and acquisition of ambulatory surgery facilities needs for more than 19 years. In addition, Stanley has facilitated long-term business relationships with physician groups and hospital system capital and C-suite executives.Stanley earned an undergraduate degree in healthcare management at the University of Alabama and an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of North Florida.
