Shannondale announces Jim Driscoll as CFO

Jim Driscoll, CPA, has joined Shannondale, Knoxville, TN, as chief financial officer. 

Driscoll has 15 years of experience in healthcare accounting, financial and compliance management. Before joining the company, he was director of accounting and compliance for a Knoxville, TN-based medical practice. 

Driscoll has an MBA degree in finance from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Tennessee. 

Sunrise Senior Living welcomes Mary Kay Gribbons as CHRO, Maria Davlantes as CMO

Mary Kay “MK” Gribbons and Maria Davlantes have joined McLean, VA-based Sunrise Senior Living as chief human resources officer and chief marketing officer, respectively.

Gribbons has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and operations across industries. Most recently, she was the CHRO for Dean Foods, where she led a formal restructuring and developed programs to retain leaders, as well as enhanced internal communication during a period of many changes.

Davlantes has more than 30 years of experience in the marketing sector as well as in business-building. She previously was executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Heartland Dental, where she led strategies and digital and affiliate modern marketing programs to increase growth. 

Gribbons joined the company Sept. 20. Davlantes will begin Oct. 11.

White Horse Village promotes Tina Boukalis to VP of operations

Tina Boukalis has been promoted to vice president of operations at White Horse Village, Newton Square, PA. 

In her expanded role, Boukalis will be responsible for aligning the company with long-term plans to build a new healthcare center, leading culture and service delivery changes in healthcare services and supporting daily operations. She has more than three decades of experience in the field. 

Boukalis joined the company in 1997 and has held many healthcare positions during her tenure, such as director of social services and admissions and social services coordinator. She also has contributed to improvements at the nonprofit community, including developing the resident support services program.

Boukalis is a licensed nursing home administrator and certified personal care administrator. She has an undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and is the recipient of a LeadingAge PA Award for Professional Achievement. 

Retirement Unlimited Inc. welcomes Jaime Smiley as VP of RUI Fit and Therapy

Jaime Smiley, MS, OTR/L, has been hired by Roanoke, VA-based Retirement Unlimited Inc. as vice president of RUI Fit and Therapy, one of the company’s signature programs designed for residents of its 12 communities in Virginia and Florida. Smiley will report directly to Dorris-Ellie Sullivan, president of the company.

In this newly created role, Smiley will oversee the development and implementation of many programs, such as an exclusive health and fitness program for residents. She also will oversee the delivery of therapy services, programs, education and the company’s Rehab Recovery Suites. 

Smiley has almost two decades of experience in skilled nursing and subacute rehab with Medical Facilities of America, RUI’s sister company. There, she was occupational therapist and rehab director and, most recently, the clinical education coordinator for 40 locations. 

Smiley is a 2001 graduate of the occupational therapy program at Virginia Commonwealth University and recently was named a Veteran VIP in the McKnight’s Women of Distinction program.

Kayla Harris has been promoted to executive director of The Springs at Carman Oaks, Lake Oswego, OR. In her new role, she will oversee all aspects of the senior living community.

Harris joined the company in 2015 as a community services coordinator based ar The Springs at Tanasbourne, Hillsboro, OR. In December 2020, she became interim executive director.

Harris graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Washington University with an undergraduate degree in health services administration. She recently completed the company’s executive-director-in-training program.

Cindy Batey has joined Jackson Creek Senior Living, Monument, CO, as executive director. 

In her role, Batey will oversee operations for the company’s 137 independent living, assisted living and memory care apartments. She has spent more than 33 years in the senior housing industry, working at various communities in Colorado Springs and Denver.

Ingleside announces new memory support directors

Mariana Blagburn, MA, CDP, and Maureen Charlton, BSW, CVW, CADDCT, have been named directors of memory support services and programming at Ingleside at Rock Creek, Washington, DC, and Ingleside at King Farm, Rockville, MD, respectively. 

Before arriving at the company, Blagburn was associate director of innovative programming and marketing at a memory care community in Washington, D.C. There, she developed an adult day social program for people living at home with neurological decline. She also developed educational programs for staff members and other providers to address the mental health of adults in assisted living memory support.

Charlton joins the company with almost 30 years of experience working with people living with dementia and their families at an Alzheimer’s Association. Most recently, she opened a memory support neighborhood at an assisted living community in Virginia, where she worked for more than three years.

Joseph Schmidt has been named director of continuing care at Cedar Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Pompton Plains, NJ. 

Schmidt has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the healthcare field. Before joining Erickson, he worked at Genesis Healthcare for 14 years. 

Schmidt is a licensed nursing home administrator and earned his undergraduate degree from William Patterson University.

Mayo Healthcare promotes Heidi Passalacqua to manager of residential care

Heidi Passalacqua has been promoted by Mayo Healthcare, Northfield, VT, to manager of residential care. 

In her new role, Passalacqua will lead all aspects of care for residents, as well as work as an interdisciplinary care team member. She also will oversee residents’ daily living activities and manage other care aspects, such as nutritional and clinical needs. 

Passalacqua worked at Mayo from 2010 to 2015, then returned in 2019 with a home health background. Prior to her promotion, she was a clinical liaison.

Springpoint Living welcomes Alexandra Amato as director of business development

Alexandra Amato has joined Springpoint Living at Manalapan, a new assisted living and memory care community in Manalapan, NJ, as director of business development.

In her role, Amato will be responsible for community outreach, advocating and educating on behalf of the company. She will form professional relationships with members of the greater community, as well as help educate older adults and family members and lead programming and services for residents.

Amato formerly was director of marketing for Artis Senior Living of Eatontown, Eatontown, NJ. She is chair of the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and also is the chapter’s support group facilitator.

Amato has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from Monmouth University and is a certified dementia practitioner.

Danielle Nickerson, LNHA, of Bethel, has been promoted to assistant administrator at Mayo Healthcare, Northfield, VT.

Nickerson started at the company as a payroll clerk in human resources three years ago.

Florida Health Care Association announces Susan E. Anderson as director of government affairs

Susan E. Anderson has joined the Florida Health Care Association, Tallahassee, FL, as director of government affairs. The association is the state affiliate of the American Health Care Association / National Center for Assisted Living.

Working under the direction of Toby Philpot, senior director of government affairs and chief lobbyist, Anderson will help advance the association’s legislative agenda, as well as support members with regulatory compliance issues and liaison with the agencies providing state and federal oversight of long-term care facilities.

Before joining FHCA, Anderson was director of assisted living public policy at LeadingAge Florida. She also formerly was vice president of public policy for the Florida Senior Living Association, the Argentum state partner, and assistant general counsel and general counsel in programs within the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Her leadership — especially during the COVID-19 pandemic — gives voice to the economic, social, and racial inequities that are too frequently experienced by older adults across the country and right here in our region,” Seabury noted.
