The Long Term Care Community Coalition has updated its free guides for assisted living owners, managers and direct care staff, “to help achieve the promise of assisted living.”
The original guides were developed in 2005 through a collaboration with the Coalition of Institutionalized Aged & Disabled. The revised versions reflect current circumstances for both older adults and the industry, LTCC said.
- “Fostering Resident Independence, Choice, and Decision-Making in Assisted Living: Strategies for Owners & Managers” was developed to help owners and managers by examining potential assisted living challenges and solutions. Owners and managers can evaluate their communities and identify ways to improve them.
- “Encouraging Independence, Choice Control, and Decision-Making: Ideas for Direct Care Staff” was developed to help care staff better understand and work with residents. The guide contains cases and scenarios to help direct care staff assess their own work and identify opportunities for improvement.
LTCC also released two more updated guides, one for prospective residents and families, and another for residents.
