Berenice Galvez Soto says that when she gave birth to her son when she was 15 years old, she was determined to create a bright future for him. 

She started her career as a physical therapist assistant after she graduated from Morton College in Cicero, IL, in 2008. She went on to become a program director and program specialist and now is quality assurance compliance coordinator at HealthPRO-Heritage. 

Her time in healthcare developed a passion that fed a desire to teach. Since 2011, she has been an active educator with Fox College, Morton College, Triton College, Rehab Workshops World, Hines VA pain management programs and City Colleges of Chicago.

Soto also has earned several certifications, including clinical instructor with the American Physical Therapy Association, point-of-case testing toxicology, CPR instructor, advanced proficiency in musculoskeletal, kinesio tape practitioner plus, aquatic therapist and quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI)-certified professional.

Outside of work, she is an active volunteer as a career night speaker at Thomas Kelly High School, a Bank of America group volunteer, a ATI-Cruising for Kids Foundation volunteer and as a Mujeres Latinas-Teen Parenting Mentoring speaker. She also is involved with the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and the American Physical Therapy Association.

In addition to improving the lives of her patients and creating a better life for her family, Soto’s dedication also has inspired all of her siblings to pursue careers in the healthcare industry.
