Katie Jayne
Katie Jayne

Bishop Gadsden’s Katie Jayne started in 2005 as an assistant to the director of marketing at the South Carolina community. Through hard work, she’s advanced and was promoted last year to become the director of community life and compliance.

She completed certification as a professional compliance officer, managed community-wide corporate compliance efforts and developed processes for Medicare compliance. She has served on the LeadingAge South Carolina board since 2017 and as a CARF surveyor since 2008.

Jayne was notably able to put practice into skill when Charleston, SC, received six inches of snow in January 2018, which kept many employees home. She implemented a well-practiced shelter-in-place plan, which helped ensure that more than 500 residents remained safe. Later in 2018, a mandatory evacuation was ordered during Hurricane Florence. Bishop Gadsen used Jayne’s organized evacuation plan to move residents to several relocation sites. In 30 hours, more than 300 residents and staff were transported to their evacuation locations in Hendersonville, NC, and Lexington, SC. The evacuation included four motor coaches, two 17-passenger buses and a U-Haul to transport residents, supplies and staff.
