Staff at Fairwinds-Woodward Park, a Leisure Care independent living and assisted living community in Fresno, CA, tried to bring some cheer to residents and support a local business while celebrating Easter during a shelter-in-place order in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The staff at the senior living community boxed up tarts from local bakery La Boulangerie on Saturday and delivered them to resident suites with a prime rib dinner on Easter Sunday.

General Manager Deanne Edwards ordered 22 dozen fruit tarts — 264 total — from the bakery, a resident favorite because many of them once lived in the neighborhood in which it is located.

“Easter is not the same this year. Residents are spending their day in isolation as we wait for this deadly virus to pass,” she told McKnight’s Senior Living. “We hope these tarts brought just a little joy.”

The Easter Bunny also delivered treats to residents at St. Monica’s Senior Living, Racine, WI, on April 9 (below).

The day before, The Jewish Home Family, Rockleigh, NJ, kept its tradition of delivering traditional fresh Passover meals to older adults living at home (below). More than 350 meals were prepared and delivered throughout the day in a safe, no-contact manner by a team of volunteers.
