For 10 days this month, there will be some unfamiliar faces at The Radcliff. The independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Wood Dale, IL, is hosting more than 80 bicyclists from around the world who are competing in the Intelligentsia Cup of Chicago, a pro / amateur bicycle racing series.
This is the second year that The Radcliff has opened up its doors for the cyclists. The guests double and sometimes triple up in the available rooms and in the common spaces at the 160-room community.
The residents of The Radcliff will live, dine and socialize with the diverse group of racers from faraway places, including Australia, Belgium, Germany, New Zealand and Canada.
“Racers of all ages and backgrounds come together and form very unique bonds that go beyond the competition,” said Alan Scimeca, asset manager of The Radcliff. “Residents and their visiting families, our staff and the community love our visitors and the sharing of cultures and experiences in a truly unique meeting up of seniors and world-class athletes and racing champions.”
The bike race runs from July 19 to 28 around Chicago and its suburbs.
