Twelve residents at Ovation’s Chai Point in Milwaukee participated in photographer Heidi Wagner’s Passions Project last week.

Wagner stayed at the community Aug. 27 to 29, getting to know the residents, learning their stories and ultimately capturing black-and-white images of them engaging in activities they enjoy. Her goal is to portray the beauty of aging while redefining people’s ideas about what it means to get older, conveying a time filled with vitality and wellness, where each day has purpose and meaning.

The Passions Project has been the focus of Wagner’s creative work since 2013. She has visited other senior living communities to take photos, too, and her artwork is displayed at the LeadingAge headquarters in Washington, DC.
