Friendship Village in Schaumburg, IL, recently held its 14th annual Silver Games. More than 35 different events were held.

“Extending the games from one week to the full month allowed more people to participate in various competitions,” said Carla Smith, director of lifestyles.

More than 265 residents competed this year. Popular events included balloon volleyball, fishing, archery, table tennis, pop-a-shot, bocce ball, bags and more.

“The enthusiastic participation in some of the events, like bocce ball, showed us that we need to ramp up these activities throughout the rest of the year since the residents enjoyed them so much,” Smith said.

Awards were presented to all of the top contenders, and a celebratory closing ceremony was held with special refreshments, a video of the month-long festivities and a performance by the Friendship Village Choir.

“Residents are already planning their strategies to win for the 2023 Silver Games,” Smith said.
