Stuffing no is longer exclusively a Thanksgiving tradition. Residents at Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care in Buda, TX, have been stuffing teddy bears for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office’s Brown Santa program since Nov. 29 to make sure everyone receives a bit of holiday cheer.

“The residents are happy to spread holiday cheer to those who need it and are proud to support such an important organization,” Buda Oaks Community Relations Director Crista Wallace said.

Each bear is filled with stuffing, a “wish on a star” from residents and staff members and, of course, love. The Brown Santa program “provides assistance with gifts and food during the holiday season to families and elderly citizens in Travis County primarily living outside the geographic city limits of Austin,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Buda Oaks had a donation bin in the lobby to collect unwrapped toys from families, friends and residents. Soon, those toys will all find new homes.
