Residents at Watercrest Winter Park, Winter Park, FL, recently were transported to Hawaii without even stepping on a plane.

The team at the recently opened senior living community brought the Aloha Spirit via sights, sounds and tastes of traditional Hawaiian celebration to residents. Everyone who walked through the door was given a lei to symbolize a happy life. As per the unsaid meaning of “Aloha,” the lei may wilt, but the sentiment behind it always blossoms.

Hula dancers swayed to Hawaiian beats while residents savored plentiful pina coladas, as well as a feast of a roasted pig, island fruits and cupcakes.

“Our version of the Hawaiian luau was a symbolic and festive opportunity to welcome our current and future residents with open arms,” Watercrest Winter Park Executive Director MaryAnn Howell said.
