A West Virginia assisted living operator has been hit with three lawsuits from former employees who maintain that their employment was wrongfully terminated.

Office manager Angela Gainer, office manager Carolyn D. Sheme and part-time cook Angela Mayle said they were fired from Home Away From Home Assisted Living in Grafton, WV, after their repeated complaints to owners about care-related issues — regulatory or licensure violations — were ignored and the three contacted the state Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification. They are seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

The complaints also name three individuals as defendants.

McKnight’s Senior Living tried to contact the plaintiffs’ attorney, but her voice mailbox was full and she did not respond to an email request for comment. Home Away From Home did not respond to a request for comment.
