Lewisburg, PA-based Albright Care Services is joining Frederick, MD-based Asbury Communities, the organizations announced Monday.

“It is becoming increasingly common for senior living organizations to join together to further their charitable missions by offering new services, creating operational efficiencies and enhancing the quality and breadth of how they serve seniors,” Asbury Chief Strategic Alliances and Growth Officer Sandra Lawson said in a statement.

When the affiliation is final, the combined entity will have eight continuing care retirement communities across three states: Maryland, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. With the addition of Albright’s pharmacy services line, LIFE centers providing day services operating under the federal Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), and a third affordable housing property, Asbury will serve more than 4,500 older adults and employ approximately 3,000 people.

“Asbury and Albright are excited about the ways in which such a partnership would expand and further secure our shared missions well into the future,” Lawson said.

Asbury was No. 17 on the 2019 LeadingAge Ziegler 200 list of largest senior living providers, and Albright was No. 147.

“We have been seeking partners whose commitment to innovation and serving more matches our own,” Albright Care Services President and CEO Shaun Smith said. “We have found that in Asbury.”

Asbury, established in 1926, currently operates CCRCs in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee as well as home and home healthcare services through Asbury Home Services. Albright, established in 1916, operates in six central and eastern Pennsylvania locations.
