Ascension announced the formation of a new Post-Acute Services Division and the naming of subsidiary Ascension Living’s chief operating officer as the division’s president on Wednesday.
Effective July 1, Daniel “Danny” Stricker will provide strategic and operational leadership to the St. Louis-based organization’s new division, which includes Ascension Living’s post-acute services — independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, short-term rehab and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly — as well as the home health, hospice, palliative care, home infusion and home medical equipment service lines.
“Danny has been a trusted, mission-focused leader within Ascension for many years,” Ascension Senior Vice President Craig Cordola said in announcing Stricker’s promotion. “He has skillfully connected senior living to the broader healthcare ecosystem by focusing on personalized and quality care that meets the healthcare consumer’s real needs.”
Stricker joined Ascension in 2011 as executive director of the Lansdowne Place long-term care community in St. Louis. When Ascension Living was formed in 2014, he was named vice president of strategy and business development. Before his current position of COO, he was regional chief executive officer for Ascension Healthcare’s Carondelet long-term care facilities in Kansas City, MO.
Stricker’s appointment is effective at the same time as several previously announced senior-level leadership changes at Ascension. His successor as COO of Ascension Living, who will report to him, will be announced next week, an Ascension spokeswoman told McKnight’s Senior Living.
“As the healthcare industry continues to transform, we are reimagining our operating model to best provide individuals and communities with personalized, compassionate care,” she said.
Stricker earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from William Jewell College, Liberty, MO, and a master’s degree in health administration from Lindenwood University, St. Charles, MO. He also is a graduate of the Ascension’s two-year Executive Ministry Leadership program.
“I am honored to lead a mission-inspired team who is intentional about providing compassionate care, where it is wanted and when it is needed,” Stricker said.
Ascension Living has more than 50 senior living communities across 11 states and the District of Columbia. In all, its parent health system operates more than 2,600 sites of care.
