An employee of an Alabama assisted living and memory care community was fired after allegedly posting a video on social media showing the body of a recently deceased resident.

The former employee at The Brennity at Daphne in Daphne, AL, posted a video of herself inappropriately poking and touching the body of the resident, according to media reports

The employee was let go after Sagora Senior Living, which owns the community, became aware of the video. The matter also is being investigated by the Daphne Police Department.

“First and foremost, we find the actions in this video to be completely unacceptable, inappropriate and not in line with our ‘Resident First’ philosophy that we strictly uphold at our communities,” Dara Brown, Sagora Senior Living senior vice president, told McKnight’s Senior Living. “We can confirm that this associate is no longer with Sagora Senior Living, as we will not tolerate behavior like this.

“We are working closely with investigators and local authorities as they handle the situation. We offer our thoughts and prayers to the family members and loved ones of this resident and ask that their privacy is respected during this sensitive time.”

The Brennity team also shared this video with family members and loved ones to counter the negative attention the facility has received over the incident.

Brown declined to release the charges the former employee faces or the person’s job title, saying, “This story is not a matter of public interest” and that it should be handled privately by investigators and local authorities.
