A former resident assistant at a Mississippi assisted living community has been sentenced to five years in prison and five years of probation after she pleaded guilty to stealing a controlled substance from a resident, state Attorney General Jim Hood announced Thursday.
Angela Sweat’s prison term was suspended at her court date Monday, although she is required to spend nine days in the Lee County Jail and then begin a drug court program. Additionally, she must pay $500 to the attorney general’s office to cover investigative fees and pay a $500 fine and court costs.
Sweat was arrested April 1 for an incident that happened in October when she was worked at the unnamed Tupelo facility, Hood said. She stole a resident’s acetaminophen and hydrocodone medication and used the pills herself, he added. The drug combination also is known by the brand names Norco, Hycet, Lorcet, Lortab, Verdrocet, Vicodin and Xodol.
