Ninety percent of long-term care providers currently are not mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for staff members, and the remaining 10% either have mandated it for all workers or just new hires, according to a recent CFO Hotline Survey by specialty investment bank Ziegler.

Of those respondents not currently mandating COVID  vaccination, however, 12% said it is “highly likely” that they will do so in the future, and 37% said it is “somewhat likely.” Fifty-one percent said it is “not at all likely” that they will require COVID vaccination of employees.

The survey had more than 220 respondents.

Vaccinations among staff members have increased approximately five percentage points since March, according to survey results, and resident vaccination levels are right around 90%.

As McKnight’s Senior Living previously reported, among providers mandating employee vaccination are ALG Senior, American House Senior Living Communities, The Arbor Co., Atria Senior Living, Civitas Senior Living, Continuing Healthcare Solutions, Enlivant, Juniper Communities, Masonicare, Retirement Center Management, Silverado and Sunrise Senior Living. Integral Senior Living also is requiring employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Those workers and residents who were or will be vaccinated at long-term care facilities through CVS Health are eligible for the company’s prize sweepstakes, announced Thursday. The contest starts today and will run for six weeks. Entrants can win one of more than 1,000 prizes through weekly drawings and grand prizes.

The contest also is open to those vaccinated by CVS at a retail location, employer-based Return Ready clinic or other off-site clinic.
