Brookdale Senior Living’s ongoing efforts to optimize its portfolio has led the Brentwood, TN-based firm to transition the operations of several communities over the last several months.

In January, for example, the senior living and care management and consulting firm Health Dimensions Group took over the management, oversight and repositioning of Brookdale’s 70-unit senior living center in Prospect Heights, IL.

Then this week several announcements came out of additional management transitions from the firm. Escondido, CA-based Bayshire Senior Communities on Monday announced the acquisition of two new continuing care retirement communities into its portfolio from Brookdale: Bayshire Carlsbad and Bayshire Rancho Mirage. The communities were formerly known as Brookdale Carlsbad and Brookdale Rancho Mirage.

Then on Tuesday, national operator Pegasus Senior Living announced the addition of two new communities located near Sacramento, CA, to its portfolio, both formerly managed by Brookdale. Further, Brentwood, TN-based Vitality Living announced Wednesday that the firm was expanding into Virginia, taking over operations of two Brookdale facilities, including a143-unit community in Arlington, VA and a 99-unit community in Richmond, VA.

Finally, on Friday, Naperville, IL-based Charter Senior Living announced that it had acquired Brookdale Pikesville, an assisted living and memory care community located in Pikesville, MD. The firm has renamed the facility Charter Senior Living of Woodholme Crossing.

“These were management arrangements on former joint venture communities that we’ve exited as part of our portfolio optimization initiative,” company spokeswoman Heather Hunter said in a statement to the McKnight’s Business Daily on Thursday.
