Freehold Township, NJ-based Distinctive Living has added five new senior living communities to its portfolio, the company announced Friday. The properties are in Alabama, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

“We are proud to support our new team members to deliver boutique living and enhance the quality of life to those residents entrusted to our care.  We thank our industry partners for their support of our continued growth and look forward to our ongoing development of the Distinctive Living brand,” founder, President and Chief Financial Officer Lisa Rogers told the McKnight’s Business Daily.

The five new locations increase the company’s portfolio to 22 communities across 10 states, and the development services arm, Distinctive Living Development, has 11 buildings under development.

The Connecticut and Pennsylvania properties were chosen with the goal of expanding operations into the Northeast. And Alabama “was a really good fit” because the company is developing property in Florida, Joe Jedlowski, chairman and CEO of Distinctive Living and Distinctive Living Development, told the McKnight’s Business Daily

Each property averages approximately 100 units, spanning active adult, independent living, assisted living and memory care.

The management company has been in business for approximately a year and a half, he said. The boutique model, he added, is meant to “make sure that we have significant communication at all levels of our companies. …It gives a much more personal feel to everything we touch.”
