Omaha, NE-based Immanuel Communities is increasing pay for workers at its 14 senior living communities and three Pathways PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) centers across Nebraska and Iowa.

“Our wage increases began with Immanuel’s incredible employees on the frontline. Our care teams, culinary teams and other client-facing positions, including housekeepers and transportation team members, will see a nearly 23% pay increase,” Jennifer Knecht, vice president of marketing and communications, told the McKnight’s Business Daily.

“We challenged our leaders to find new, creative ways to absorb the increases that come as Immanuel elevates wages for the majority of our team, and they’ve successfully met this challenge,” she added.

The not-for-profit organization has been working to expand career growth opportunities to give employees professional and clear growth opportunities. Knecht said that in the next fiscal year, Immanuel will be introducing a new leadership program for workers at every level.

“As an organization, we know that just as we expect the best from our team day in and day out (and they demonstrated well beyond ‘the best’ serving through COVID-19 as they have), our employees should in return expect and receive ‘the best’ from our organization,” she said.

In addition to a boost in pay and growth opportunities, the company will continue to refine and add to existing perks, such as tuition assistance, paid time off for volunteer activities, and bonuses throughout the year, Knecht said.

Immanuel also has a “helping hands” assistance fund, which she said is “an incredible program powered by the generosity of our foundation that gifts employees with paid time off or financial support should an unforeseen hardship or challenge befall that individual.”
