Real estate and development firm KT Urban received unanimous approval by the city of Cupertino Environmental Review Committee this month to move forward with its plans for an enhanced senior and family living project, Westport Cupertino. According to a Globe St.com article, the development had exceeded the city of Cupertino’s inclusionary Below Market Rate Housing Program with plans to offer more than 20% of the allowed units at affordable rates.

The article notes that the project will include 206 senior living units, with 48 units offering affordable senior living and 27 memory care residences as well as 88 units of single-family homes.

“Westport Cupertino provides a real opportunity for the city to address the challenges created by the recent housing crisis while also meeting the needs of a segment of the population with unique housing requirements,” Mark Tersini, principal / senior vice president at KT Urban, told GlobeSt.com. “With a major shortage of senior housing in Cupertino, we’re excited to deliver an affordable and high-quality option that allows people of all ages to live together as a community.”
