When it comes to retirement, many older adults say they’re most interested in having access to an indoor pool, an exercise area and outdoor space, according to a new poll of more than 200 adults aged 60 or more years conducted by senior living marketing and advertising agency Craft & Communicate.

The survey found that respondents were most interested in amenities, features and services that could help them socialize, stay physically active and learn new things. A movie room, on-site pub or bistro, a library and a well-equipped technology center that includes training from staff members also topped respondents’ list of most-requested amenities. Many older adults also said they prefer senior living communities that are pet-friendly, according to the poll.

“The results from this survey help us as marketers understand what seniors look for most when searching for a community, but they can also help operators,” the agency wrote in a blog post. “Reading straight from the source on what they desire most is a nice reminder while building, acquiring or taking over management of new communities.”
