senior couple and moving boxes

Move-in averages within senior housing have increased just over 44% from April, according to a report released Monday by Denver-based Enquire.

The senior living marketing and technology firm also found that October inquiries into senior living were up 52% compared to April, and down only 13% from a year ago. In April, inquiries had dropped 41% compared with a year ago. Move-outs within senior living communities continued to remain low last month, with the report showing that totals were 18% lower in October compared with the previous year.

In terms of the biggest originator of inquiries, digital sources including website, email marketing, social media, and internet advertising remained strong in October compared with last year. Professional referrals and print advertising and media also remained strong sources for most care levels.

Average inquiries so far this year have varied by region, with the North Central and Southeast seeing the most negative effects, according to the report. The South Central and Northeast regions seem to be the most unaffected through October.

The firm aggregated actual sales and marketing data from more than 2,200 senior living communities offering independent living only, both independent and assisted living, assisted living, both assisted living and memory care, or memory care only.
