Continuing care retirement community executive director salaries have barely increased in the past year, while therapy and rehabilitation directors received a boost, a new report shows. The average salary for a therapy and rehab director is currently $95,905.

While CCRC executive directors saw a 6% bump from 2012 to 2013, the increase in the past year was a modest 0.21% to $148,317 — according to the “Continuing Care Retirement Community Salary & Benefits Report 2014-2015.” The national average salary of therapy and rehabilitation directors increased by about 5%.

The Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service conducted the report, which is endorsed by LeadingAge. The HCS derived data from 501 CCRCs and added the position of director of home & community-based services to the report.

Housekeeping supervisors experienced the largest pay cut, with close to a 1.6% decrease. Social service and activity directors received the largest pay raise, with a salary increase of nearly 9%.

Earlier this year, HCS released an annual Assisted Living Salary & Benefits Report and will conduct and publish a separate Nursing Home Salary & Benefits Report later this month.

These long-term care studies are conducted in collaboration with American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living and LeadingAge.
