The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will retire Home Health Compare and seven other tools for nursing homes, hospitals and other healthcare services on Dec. 1 as it transitions to Care Compare on Medicare.gov, the agency announced this week.

CMS is urging home care agencies and other healthcare companies to update links on their websites to the new site so visitors will be directed to the proper place. The agency already is suggesting that caregivers and Medicare beneficiaries start using Care Compare.

The new site provides a list of Medicare-certified home health agencies and information about best practices, patient improvement and patient reviews. CMS says it plans to continue making improvements to the tool based on feedback from stakeholders.
