The National Council on Aging is urging the Biden administration and Congress to build upon a December 2020 relief bill during the president’s first 100 days in office to protect older Americans from a resurgent COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, NCOA wants the Biden/Harris Administration and Congress to take immediate action on four fronts:
• Investment in a coordinated, equitable vaccine distribution program
• Expansion of a job training and unemployment insurance
• Strengthened social safety net for all Americans
• Increased federal funding for the aging network
“There is no time to waste because lives are at risk,” NCOA President and CEO Ramsey Alwin said. “We know there are solutions, and we look forward to working with the new Administration and Congress to make them a reality.”
